Tolentino, October 9th - arena, a leading company in water sports, was the protagonist this morning of a company beach clean-up event at Monte Conero, on the beaches between Sirolo and Numana.
The initiative was organized for the second consecutive year thanks to the support of Plastic Free Onlus, the volunteer organization committed since 2019 to combating plastic pollution and engaged in the protection of the environment with cleaning events of cities, beaches, parks, and rivers.
To strengthen the brand's deep connection with water, the project took place in the coastal area of Sirolo, known as the Pearl of the Adriatic for the breathtaking beauty of the Park and the intense colors of the sea.
Before the initiative, arena employees participated in an online training on the harmful effects of plastic pollution and best practices for cleanup. Then, in the morning today, they traveled with a dedicated bus to Sirolo to clean up the site from the trash present, either carried by the sea or the result of the carelessness of some bathers in the summer season just past.
The ecological walk kicked off after a welcome greeting that also involved the Councilor for Public Works, Urban Planning and Construction, Waste Management of Sirolo Giovanna Morresi.
The employees, almost 100, armed with kits consisting of gloves, bags and t-shirts provided by Plastic free, committed to collecting 495 kilos of waste (of which 147 kg plastic, 100.3 kg undifferentiated material, 171.3 kg glass, 76.4 kg special waste).
The material collected was weighed and accounted for by Plastic Free Onlus at the end of the activity together with the local waste management company, while the initiative will be communicated in the 2024 sustainability report of arena.

At the end of the route, the traditional final photo for all participants, protagonists also in this second edition of a sustainable team building able to stimulate a sense of environmental responsibility and group cohesion to be replicated even in everyday life.
"In its over 50 years of activity, arena has always taken water to heart as an element that unites us all as human beings" - says Peter Graschi, CEO of the arena group, who personally participated in the beach cleaning day - "Protecting water is one of the pillars on which our Community Impact Plan is based, in addition to the theme of love for water and the promotion and learning of swimming. Cleaning the beaches means being able to take action first-hand, not only as employees but as people to improve the environment in which we live as well as favoring a positive impact on the community. We decided to ask for the support of Plastic Free once again for a company initiative like this, appreciating their way of raising public and institutional awareness of the problem. The problem of pollution of oceans and beaches is now an emergency that cannot be postponed and on which we are all called to intervene. In line with our Planet water campaign, we were happy to have involved many of our employees in a beach clean-up operation that combined laudable goals with pleasant moments of conviviality."
"We are thrilled to collaborate once again with arena - declares Luca De Gaetano, founder and president of Plastic Free Onlus - This initiative underlines once more how important it is to work together for a goal that concerns us all: fighting plastic pollution. For the second consecutive year, Plastic Free volunteers will be alongside Arena employees, raising awareness about the damage caused by plastic and its impact on our daily lives. Change can and must involve a decisive role for companies - he concludes - in promoting new lifestyles that can free us from all that excess plastic that inevitably disfigures the environment, starting with the marine environment."
