arena is proud to announce the signing of 27-year-old triathlete, Leon Chevalier of France, who finished 7th at the 2022 Ironman World Championships in Hawaii, and more recently won Ironman South Africa in March of this year.
Leon has been racing long distance triathlons around the world since 2021, and in his first season as a professional, won Ironman Mallorca and Embrunman, came 3rd at Ironman UK, and rose from 420th to 22nd in the PTO World Rankings.
"“I’m super excited about this new collaboration, and proud to swim in the products of this world leading brand” said Leon. "I’m ready to race in the Ironman World Championships in Nice this year, and am looking forward to leveraging my performance with arena."
Leon then moved to the UK to start a Master’s of Chemical Engineering at the University of Bath, teaming up with a stellar group of international athletes. In 2019 he shifted his focus from the shorter races to long distance triathlon, and by 2021 had established himself as a podium contender at the sport’s premier events. In 2022, he finished his master’s degree and embarked on his journey as a full-time professional athlete. Following on his successes of last year and earlier this year, Leon’s ambitions are now firmly focused on the 2023 Ironman World Championships to be held in Nice on 10th September.
With strong roots in open water swimming and triathlon that dates back to the 1980s, arena has steadily increased its involvement in the sport as well as its product ranges. The company is now one the world’s leading brands in swimsuits, wetsuits and goggles for open water and triathlon competition.
“Leon is a great addition to our ranks of elite athletes, and at a very young age for long-distance triathlon has shown the characteristics that are emblematic of our brand,” said Giuseppe Musciacchio, arena Deputy CEO. “We look forward to working together with him to get together to the next level, just as we all do in our daily working lives, spreading our passion for sport and healthy living through our products, our ethics, and our commitment.”
